「ここだけの話」-血液型性格診断

好きな本
ハーメルンの笛吹き男―伝説とその世界　一気に読了。ヨーロッパ中世史がまるで良質のサスペンスものを読んでいるかのように楽しめる。1284年6月24日に130人の子供達が失踪したのは実際に起きたこと。笛吹き男としての旅芸人の実態、背景の宗教戦争、鼠害に悩まされ、疫病、飢饉により打ちひしがれる庶民の生活、移民と入植活動の必要、市参事会の欺瞞とそれへの政治不信、それらのパーツとしての史実が総合され、検証されていく運びは見事。
好きな音楽
ALL SINGLES BEST (初回限定盤)(DVD付)　邦楽、洋楽ともに70、80年代のいわゆる「懐メロ」に涙し、最近の歌手の誰が何を歌っているのかもわかりませんでした。ところが、ここに現代の才能を発見して感動しました。日本版サイモン＆ガーファンクルというべきか、本当になんともすばらしい！最高！

まずはフランス文法の入門通読

全体の特徴つかむためにまずは文法書通読。１２月末まで。１月入って一ヶ月でCD聞きながらもう一回流す。昔、学生時代に英語の勉強で文法なる科目は大嫌いだったが、今になって第二外国語を学ぶにあたって文法の勉強の意味がわかってきた気がする。若いころはルール先ありきで敷衍してものを考える癖がつけさせられ、ルールに合わない例外の話を聞くと「きっちりルール通りやってくれよ」などと感じフラストレーションを感じたものだったが、そもそも言葉とは人間の生活の手段として生まれ発展してきたものであるわけだから、文法を学ぶ作業はその国の人達の発想や感性を学ぶ事のように感じられてきた。英語が慣用句やクリシェが多いのに比べフランス語は構造がより論理的か？性、数の一致なんかも冠詞、形容詞なんかにもきちんと貫徹させようとする。

なゆたさんのご家庭のようにアメリカでの生活言語の域に達している英語などに比べ、我々の日本人「英語」は「知性的」と言われたりします。これは当然お世辞半分の言い方なんですが、どういうことかと聞くと使う単語が普段日常での会話で使うには固いものを平気で使うということみたいです。日ごろおしゃべりするというより文章で英語に接している時間が多いため結局イディオムやクリッシェなど注入される機会も少なくただ単に生きた日常会話での表現を「知らない」というだけの話で「知性」とは無縁の話なんですけどね。例えばYou have to be responsible for it.などはYou have to answer for it.などと軽くあしらってしまえばいい、みたいなことなんですが私たちはできない。誤解なきよう正確に伝えようと思えば思うほど単語が固くなる。それに生活している場所にいないと出会えない表現で感心したのは、出張でパリへ行ったときにイギリスからきた仲間に教えてもらったのはFine biteという表現。とあるレストランで一緒に食事をした時、ウェイトレスやウェイターが突然途中でオペラを歌い始める。音楽学校の生徒さんみたいな若い人たちなんですが、本格的オペラです。５分くらいの時間客は箸（じゃ無くてフォークとナイフ）止めて聞き入るのですがやがてやんやの大歓声でまた食事に戻る。これが何回も繰り返されるのですが、その時彼が表現したのがこの言葉です。「ちょうどいい分量（Biteはコンピューターの情報単位）のおいしいものを噛み付いた」みたいな感じでしょうか？

おっしゃるとおりですね。私は言葉は文化だと思っています。確かに母国語と同じように英語を操るという必要はありますがお国訛り(?)の英語ということは大事ではないかと思うんです。母国の文化を背負っていることも大事ではないかとも思っています。外国語を話すことで知的レベルが急上昇するものでもありません。｢アメリカ育ちなら英語がぺらぺらでしょう。いいですね｣といわれると「そりゃまぁ・・・。アメリカ人くらいにはできます」と答えます。すると「ほぉすごい！」と驚かれることがほとんどなのです。NY育ちの歌手の英語が余りにハスッパなのにびっくりしたり　、まったくの日本語発音やアクセントであってもすばらしい知性のこもった英語であったりすることになぜ驚かないのかなぁ！とも。

英検準1級は十分にすばらしいと思います。文字通りInternationalな環境にいらっしゃるご家庭なのですね？私は海外には出張で頻繁にいく程度で住んだこともなく、その意味で英語は生活言語とは程遠く、意思疎通の手段程度のレベルです。社内にはフランス人以外に２０ヶ国ほどの人種の人々が一緒に仕事をしていて、それぞれのお国柄の強烈なアクセントの「英語」なるものが飛び交っています。香港や北京から来ている連中はまるで中国語しゃべっているような速射砲の「英語」だし、インド人もアクセントが強い。いまやそれぞれの癖がわかってきてスムーズに会話できるようになってきましたが、その意味で自分の「英語」が日本語アクセントの「英語」で何が悪いと居直っています。

ご訪問ありがとうございます。フランス語2級ですか、お仕事柄必要といってもがんばりにエールを送ります。私は長いこと専業主婦で過ごしてきましたから（といっても言い訳にもなりませんけれど・・・）試験はどうも苦手です。でもオフクロの威厳を保つために数年前に英検準1級を1度だけ受けたことがあるだけなんです。辛うじてパスしましたので　それを子供達に見せびらかしてさっとしまいこんでしまいました。子供たちは1級じゃなくちゃ意味ないよ～と言うのですけどね　そんなこと知っちゃいませんわ。夫の転勤でアメリカの地方都市に長いこといました。もちろん子供達も一緒に渡米しました。娘と次男は大学もアメリカでしたが長男は本人の希望で帰国子女枠で大学に進学しました。夫も私も渡米前から英語を使う機会が多かったので　アメリカに住むようになってもこれというほど不自由は感じていませんでしたが　英語を話すときは内なるスイッチが日英にカチッと切り替わるのを感じます。まして学生用語やスラングは？？？？ですもの。子供達はスル～ッと行ったり来たりしておかしさに対する私達の時差をからかうんです。でも辛うじて私達が子供たちの外国語に対して優れていると思うのは、習慣として使う言葉もあるけれど、きちんと文法を知っているということだと思います。aとtheの違いは話しているときには気が付かなくても　書いたり理解するその差は大きいですもの。フランス語のときは　音を捉える、言うところのディクテに苦労しましたが、文法が本当に大事だということを痛感しました。これがきちんとしているかしていないかで　扱われ方がものすごく違いますもの。そしてフランス人ってアメリカ人ほど母国語に対して寛容ではないですから　人が一生懸命にしゃべっているのに！このぉ～～！！！という思いをしたことも一切ならずありますもの。文法って結構好きだったりします。2級目指してがんばってくださいませ。取り留めのない書き込みで失礼しました。

「今日から始めます」

会社の仕事でうんざりするほどのメールの洪水と格闘しているという意味ではPCに接している時間は長いものの、反動で自宅にいるときはPCの顔も見たくないということになる。 根っからの新しもの好きでホームページを作ったりしてみたこともあったが何か形ができたところで時間もない、仕事に疲れているとかを口実に根が続かずすぐに辞めてしまう。こんな訳でPC劣等性としてはBlogは簡単だとの甘言に乗せられて始めてみようとはしたものの「面倒くさけりゃすぐ辞めりゃあいい！」と、常に逃げ口上を用意しながら半身の姿勢ではこの先あてにならない。今話題のlivedoor Blogが良さそうだということで始めてみたものの案の定Blogの設定なるものの段階からつまづく事となっては危うく第一稿投稿をすることもなく沈没というPC劣等生のもうひとつの汚点を歴史に刻むところだった。そもそも設定の画面で使われてている言葉の意味がわからない。適当にやってみても曲りなりにも何かが出来上がるのが素人受けする設定だがこのlivedoor Blogは設定の自由度が与えられていてある程度のPC熟練者（玄人とまでいかなくても？）にとっては他社が提供するものに比べ評価も高いのかもしれない。でもテーマを決め投稿してみるとプラグインが消えてしまったりサイドバーが下の方に落ちてしまう。豊富にあるとするテーマの画像の選択肢のどれもことごとく同じようなことが起きれば途方にくれてしまう。かくしてこの救いの神STAGEにめぐりあうこととなり第一稿を投稿し、本日これから何時まで継続できるかわからない週末ライターのBlogライフのスタートのはこびとなった。５０歳未満お断りとは何と心地よく響く言葉だろう！

Tropical Fruits - Episode3 - the final chapter

I’m resigned to admitting that I would have failed to meet expectations which you may have had in this final chapter. Our local tour guide Main-san took us to a Vietnamese courtly food restaurant, where variety of foods were served in front of us and people playing traditional musical instruments an d dancing on the stage entertained us. Look at the fresh juicy fruits!
I smirked when I looked at …….them……? I meant those fruits on the plate those young ladies hung up.

Several kinds of fruits were served at the small lodge in the island. The host introduced each fruits with the names but I forgot all about it. It was nice when eating with salt lick.

Was it its leaves or branches which spread like tumbling dragon with 9 heads and 9 tails? When the red fruit at the top of the branches (finally defined as branches) was cut, it showed white flesh with dotted black small seed, looked like the pulp of “Akebi”, tasted a bit acid.

Mekong River Cruise, which actually used a small boat accommodated only 5-6 people, brought us with rough speed to a big island named Tython. It’s really a tropical island, where there were variety of fruits and vegetation, and thousands of people lived their lives on making coconut candy or cultivating catfish, etc. Please see the Dragon Fruit tree which I actually had never seen.

Inage Beach, located closed to Chiba Lotte Marine Stadium, is filled with so many people who enjoy sea bathing and wind surfing. There is yacht harbor where nation wide yacht races are held. Do you believe that there is such place at the north side of Tokyo Bay? The long economical recession made the price of 20 feet yacht in JPY 250k. You may be asked to hold small dinghy in free of charge.

Tropical Fruits - Episode 1

A week’s passed since coming back from the short trip to Vietnam. The time of pleasure flied and that makes a sharp contrast with the life in the working place where tons of piled jobs urging me with terrible suffering to struggle. The difficulties to communicate with the people in town who speak funny language made me recognize that I was a total stranger coming from another world. But I could benefit from being “alien” among them, as that made me forget about the daily strain where always required to have any insistence and claim. It was a bit embarrassing when I noticed that they saw us Japanese as the rich to spend so much money easily. But I as one the “rich” Japanese was astonished when I saw the sight where King of Fruits “Dorian”, which normally costs JPY5-6,000 to JPY20,000 if you buy in “Senbikiya” at Kyobashi, was sold in the similar way as the sale of lot of banana in Japan. People are prepossessed with an artificial sense of value formed separately from the blessing of the natural world.

Another 10 killifishes are in bigger basin set at the porch, in which white and yellow water lilies were planted. Unexpectedly, the flower has not bloomed so far yet, nor could be expected this year. But good was many killifish babies were born in the basin.

Another healing item to make me feel better is 5 x killifishes in the small basin in my room. Every morning when I start ladling out a bit of water to replace by fresh one, they notice bait will follow soon. When bail comes, they start to be mad with joy and dance wildly. That brightens the start of the day.

Pets - Tortoise

It was a time I had to work very hard on heavy duties in the work place and felt exhausted, I found, when I went to see in a nearby pet shop, a baby tortoise which had a cute eye was watching me as if saying "Don't work too hard and live your life slowly". It was for me like the dog in an TV ad of consumer loan compay. I immediately bought two of them and, since then, have enjoyed with the small and cute creature as they gave me a cure for my excessive strain. But as I noticed recently that they are growing bigger day by day, I started thinking about how to keep it when they become adult.

Head Hunter

“ Can I speak to Mr.xxxx? I hope you didn’t feel embarrassed with my sudden call asking if you are interested in a job opportunity in a famous topnotch US investment bank’s Tokyo operation as the head of HR. Your name was found as one of the most capable and appropriate candidates in the local market. Do you think you could spare your time to meet with the senior Vice President in charge of HR in this company’s New York head office, who will come next week?”

A call received from a search firm (“Head Hunter”) normally started with such message as bove. Almost a quarter of a century ago, I remember that it was in such atmosphere that the people working for most of the Japanese companies believed the companies they once joined should be the ones which they should continue working for lifetime, quitting them should be resulted in that they should be treated as a traitor to the companies and eventually regarded as a dropout of the society based on companies oriented social wide ethics. However for last decade, so many search firms got into / started their business in the market, collecting information, contacting people, suggesting job changes, making match of the candidates with the companies. And in the end, they could earn search fees equivalent to 25-30% of sum of the candidates’ first year fixed compensation and guaranteed bonus. This business model may have made people believed easier to get in, as they were not requested to prepare any big capital to launch the business. They may have historically played a role to eventually break through the Japan’s traditional company oriented ethics.

There seems to be some arguments about the reaction to the trend raised recently based on the Canon’s successful business model, where Mr. Mitearai, heading the companies group, blared that the Canon’s management principle based on the traditional Japanese family oriented ethics brought the success of the business. Also, many tops of the major companies seem to tend to comment on the superiority of the traditional ethics as far as the business should be run in the Japanese society and to show their distaste for high turnover. There is an opinion that the recent smaller birth rate, which should accelerate making Japan as aging society and therefore jeopardize the future’s productivity in more rapid velocity than any other countries have ever experienced, has historically generated by the companies’ narrow-minded sabotage of hiring new graduates in the last long term recession, as it eventually discouraged young people to get in stable jobs, to get married and to make babies.
When the society’s trend turns to be more aware of the above ongoing phenomena to lead to the final crisis and most of the companies start to adjust the course of hiring on more new graduate basis to seek for more stable working environment rather than high turnover, the corpulent number of Head Hunters may be pitched into the fire of serious selection and restructuring.

Normally, when a stray cat came in, she should have been kicked out. But this time, my daughter fed her and the kitty started to live in the house. Yes, she looked only kitty with less than one year old and her cute feature and voice made all of the family feel accepting her. BUT!!!! Three weeks later, incredibly she became pregnant and delivered two babies. Kitty bore kitties!!! A cat maniac friend told me that one year makes cat become 18 years old equivalent to human being.

A few minutes walk from my home brings me to wide field, where I incredibly found several hens walking at the rib of rice paddy. I and my son hastened to capture two of them, one is in white and another is in black. and have kept them in the backyard. They are not normal hehs but special ones called "ukokkei", whose eggs are sold in JPY500 per piece.

Chappy, female dog, came to be a member of my family five years ago from the neighbor family who planned to take her , together with other three puppies who were born at the same time, to the nearest health center’s office to butcher. She is very good natured and also good house watchdog.

The fist upload - a bit of my self introduction

I observe myself as somewhat "Japanese" suavity who, on the other hand, has a fondness of heating up debating like "Westerners". Working for 20 years in HR for foreign financial companies in Japan may be a bit unique experience among other Japanese people's. Under the circumstances where booming business and recession come turn about, HR’s jobs are quite hectic but critical in dealing with staff’s moving outs and ins, etc. In the busy and quite exhausting daily life, one of the tips I found to make me relaxed is to go to a sushi restaurant after the working time to take nice “oo-toro (sirloin tuna)” sushi with delicious Japanese sake. My favorite writer is Ryotaro Shiba, who made tons of novels and essays, which mostly focused on the topics of the Warring State Period in 15th centuries in Japan and of the Meiji Restoration in 19th. In order to change the physically inactive daily life due to the heavy jobs, I recently restarted playing golf. I love my Mercedes Benz, and decided to keep holding in its and my life times. I like Japanese (or should be said "Asian" , as it's originally from China) board game "Go" . Family's pets are Chappy (five year old female dog), hens, cats(who recently delivered 2 babies), 2 turtles, and 15 killifishes. Further details of my family and pets will be following.
